Please forgive me!!

I know, it has been forever since I posted about the kiddies! Unfortunately I was sucked into the hole that is Facebook and have been blinded by all the bells and whistles it has to offer. Not to mention raising two kids is a bit time consuming.

Things are going well and Nathan certainly is on the go 100% of the time! He can now commando crawl with a "real" crawl not far behind. He can sit himself all the way up too. He never sits still. We haven't been back to the Dr. lately but my home scale says he's around 19 lbs, which is actually smaller than I thought he'd be at this age. Katie continues to learn and explore and has become quite a handfull. When she gets the opportunity she will get into every single drawer, cupboard or elevated surface she can. That girl is on the go and on a mission! We've had quite the issue with lots of temper tantrums and have been trying to best deal with those. She is currently taking a gymnastics class that has turned out to be a real flop. She cries and only wants to be held and won't participate at all. I guess she's just a little young for a class setting so we'll wait a while and try again in the future. Oh and Nathan biting me reminds me too, he has two bottom teeth!!! And he likes to use them.

We recently had family portraits done so i'll leave you with a few pictures!

Mover and a shaker!!

Nathan has been moving around quite a bit lately, he's really growing up! This video doesn't really capture how much he's getting around but it at least gives you the idea. I still can't believe at 6 months he's doing so much. Also featured is Katie showing off some of her new vocabulary. She's finally coming along with the language and starting to talk a lot more. I have a feeling that when she's finally able to speak sentences we're going to be in a lot of trouble. I can see her talking non-stop. All is well with the family, we're just gearing up for trick or treating on Friday. Big brother Nick has been kind enough to offer to help us take the kids out on Friday so we can show off their costumes.

Katie's first haircut

With Nana before the cut

Trying to grab at the bubbles on the counter!

Just before she got started cutting

So far so good, right?

Wrong! After the cut, doesn't she look happy!!! I guess i'd be mad if someone made me cut bangs too. She pretty much cried during the whole process but we at least accomplished a first cut. Her hair is still crazy but it's not in her face like before.

Nathan's new trick!

18 months and counting!

Good morning!!!

Menke with Katie, an unusual sight!!

Nathan!!

MMMMM Hands!!!!

We had Katie's 18 month appointment yesterday and she's doing great! She got to stand on the big girl scale and weighed in at 24 lbs. She is 32" tall and is staying at about the 50th percentile for both height and weight. Nathan discovered his feet yesterday and was trying very hard to get them to his mouth. He also surprised us by starting to roll from back to belly! He does it like a pro and will not stay on his back at all. They are both getting so big and keeping me busy!

Updates

Not a whole lot of updates right now. I have to believe that Nathan might be teething because he's been getting up quite a bit during the night again. Last night he was up at 1, 3, 5, and 6:30. NOT a fun time for me. He has been running a low fever and chews on everything he can get a hold of so i'm thinking teeth. And i'm not looking forward to teeth since he still won't take a bottle. Katie is doing really well although this morning I went into the kitchen because I could hear something tapping on the window. The window that sits at least 3 feet up from the floor. The window that Katie surely couldn't be touching because she's not tall enough yet. Right? Wrong! She was standing on the table pounding on the window and yelling at the dog who was outside. Great. I'm running out of safe places to put things!

Toes...the final chapter

So, we went to what was hopefully our last visit to the surgeon. He decided to freeze the dangly skin and just clip it off. Nathan was a trooper but of course had to work out his lungs during the procedure. In any event, we should be done with toe stuff for at least now. Both nails are free and he's doing much better.

I am now giving Nathan some solid foods and he's doing really well with it! I wanted to post a picture of him in the high chair for the first time. Big sister Katie was NOT amused that her brother was sitting in "her" seat. I tried to take a picture of her tantrum but when the camera comes out she just has to cheese it up.
