Toes...the final chapter

So, we went to what was hopefully our last visit to the surgeon. He decided to freeze the dangly skin and just clip it off. Nathan was a trooper but of course had to work out his lungs during the procedure. In any event, we should be done with toe stuff for at least now. Both nails are free and he's doing much better.

I am now giving Nathan some solid foods and he's doing really well with it! I wanted to post a picture of him in the high chair for the first time. Big sister Katie was NOT amused that her brother was sitting in "her" seat. I tried to take a picture of her tantrum but when the camera comes out she just has to cheese it up.

More baby stats and toe update

Nathan had his 4 month appointment yesterday and weighed in at a whopping 16 lbs 4 oz. He is 27 in. long and still charts at the very top!! The dr gave us the go ahead to start him on solids so I gave him some rice cereal yesterday. He actually took some so i'm hopeful we can get him started on more "solid" food and he can give momma a break. The dr estimates that at his weight he is probably drinking close to 40 oz per day. His toes look better but he still has a hangy piece of skin on one so it is back to the surgeon we go. His appointment is next Thursday. I'm not sure if they will want to operate, let it go or *shudder* cut it off at the office visit. Fortunately Nathan doesn't need to visit the ped for another 2 months. Katie is next up for her 18 month appointment in September. I can't wait for that. (note sarcasm...)

When kids get a hold of cameras...

I uploaded pictures from the camera today and found this one. I guess Nick and Katie were playing with the camera! If you can ignore the boogers in Katie's nose this is actually a pretty sweet picture! She's been spending lots of time in her pool lately and Nick loves to swim with her. Hard to believe we're in August already and soon it will be fall. Ugh. You wait all winter for summer to come and then you spend the entire summer inside with the a/c on wishing it wasn't hot. Welcome to Michigan...

Toesies!!

So, the latest in the great saga of Nathan's toes. We met with the surgeon last Thursday. He doesn't want to do surgery since Nathan is so small (ya, "small", I should say too YOUNG) so we were told to soak his feet three times per day and massage the skin. We almost immediately saw results! One nail is almost free from the skin and the other nail has a really wonderful gigantic piece of skin hanging free where the nail grew right thru the callous! We're hoping this skin can be massaged enough to just fall off eventually and then that toe should be okay. Really fun stuff but I think his toes should make a full recovery!!

Nathan's toes...

We are seeing an pediatric surgeon next Thursday. They aren't getting better and the nail can't grow over the skin. The infection is under control but he may need surgery. SUCKS is all I can say. Poor little man. This is what I get for having an easy labor and delivery! Baby with a cold, bad toes, cries a lot, needs to be carried all the time. But he's a wonderful baby and mommies little boy!!! Love the guy to death.

Under construction...

Please excuse my layout and cut off pictures! I am currently trying to find a new and improved template for my blog and apparently making changes to blogger deletes things you had on your page. I will be working on it when I have time (or make time when i'm not chatting with online friends, eating bon bons, napping and oh ya, taking care of the kids!!!).

Nathan's toes. Where did I go wrong???

Well, it was back to the doctor yesterday for Nathan. He had been on antibiotics for almost a week and I just didn't feel like they were getting better like they should be. They are terribly swollen on the tips and it is preventing the nail from growing over the skin. I decided to see a different doctor in the practice since the last two didn't excite me too much and she seemed to want to chart out an aggressive treatment for him to try and get this resolved. So we changed his antibiotic, she swabbed samples from the infected area to make sure there wasn't a funky bacteria going on and I am supposed to soak his feet in water twice a day. And soaking a 3 month old's feet is REALLY fun!!! Especially when your 16 month old is crying and tugging at your leg while you are trying to hold a gigantic 15 lb baby's feet in a tupperware bowl of water. The joys of being a SAHM. So, he goes back in one week to be evaluated. The last resort (which may be the next resort) will be surgery to take his nails off so the area can heal properly. But that involves putting him under for surgery which is risky. So please, send healthy, non-swollen toe vibes our way!

And for your viewing pleasure, here are my little Tigers!!
