Baby Stats!!!

Yesterday was Katie's 15 month appointment and Nathan's 2 month appointment. And it was sooooooooooooo much fun to take them all by my lonesome to the doctor. I can't wait to do it again!!! The most exciting part was when Nathan was screaming on the table while it was Katie's turn to be tortured - I mean examined. I got to hold Nathan while trying to keep Katie on the table as she screamed and tried to climb down. The nurse said she felt sorry for me, although I really don't need any pity. We decided to have kids close together so this is what you get right? I am just glad that at the next appointment it will ONLY be Nathan's turn so I won't have to get them both dressed and undressed.

So Nathan is a whopping 13 lbs 11 oz and 22.5" long. He is at the top of the charts for his weight and about the middle for height. Katie is 22 lbs even and 30" long (or I guess you could say tall now that she stands up!!). She is now at the bottom of the chart for both height and weight. So after a year of hearing how I over feed her I now get to hear how I don't feed her enough! You can never win. And of course it's okay for Nathan to be big because he's a "big healthy boy!".

Nathan is now sleeping through the night! Most nights I get from 10 - 7 although I get the occasional 5:00 wake up and rarely the 3:30 wake up. You would think I feel like a million bucks right? Wrong! Still tired. I guess that's the price I get to pay for two kids under 2! At least I lost all the Nathan baby weight.

AWWW!!!

I asked Katie to give Nathan a kiss and this is what she did...

She really seems to be warming up to her brother although we still have to watch her carefully around him. She still doesn't understand the meaning of "gentle"!!

Nathan continues to smile and I think he even laughed once! He really is moving along and growing so much. My little boy isn't so little anymore. Two months old tomorrow and Katie will be 15 months. How time flies!

I have decided to venture back into the world of cloth diapering. As I was running out of diapers for Nathan and thinking about how i'd have to buy more for the second time in a month I decided to unpack the cloth diapers I used with Katie and give it a try. I am cloth diapering them both and it seems to be going pretty well so far. Still trying to get used to how much padding I need to put inside to contain a 2 month old super pee-er and pooper and a toddler who seems to go often. I was also happy to receive a whole bunch of cloth diapers from my cousin Mary Kay! She had bins full and seemed happy to give them to a good home. I am eternally grateful since I looked up online a brand of diaper she gave me and they go for around $20/each. They are super adorable and here's Nathan pictured in one of the diapers.

Well, today is another hot one but at least the humidity is down. I took Katie outside to play and I sat on our new patio furniture. Love it!! I applied SPF 50 to her face twice in 30 minutes and her cheeks are still red. Ugh. We came inside to cool down and I pray she's not burned badly.

Katie has a mullet!

Well not really, but her hair is quite funny these days. I'm not sure why there are curls in the back and not in the front!

Picture overload!!!

Nathan sure is a tummy sleeper. I know it isn't recommended by the AAP but we sometimes let him nap this way (supervised of course!!!). Just thought i'd share some recent pictures. And Katie put the hat on herself, she just LOVES daddy's hat!!!

Smiles, rolling over and general baby stuff

So my little guy really isn't so little anymore! I'm not sure how long he is or now much he weighs at 7 weeks but i'd have to say he's grown quite a bit since he was born. I'm really torn between wanting him to stay little and being excited about him getting bigger and learning new things. He is starting to smile a lot and seems pretty happy to see his family. He also rolled from belly to back at 6 weeks and continues to do it at least once a day. The kid is crazy strong and I can't believe it. Apparently i'm not going to get the luxury of months and months of a kid who stays quietly on a blanket like I did with Katie! I tried to get video of him rolling but wouldn't you know, he will NOT roll when the video camera is on. I thought this video was pretty cute since Katie also tried to get in on the action.

Katie is also doing great and is getting bigger! We're working on her eating from a spoon by herself and i'm having to let go of the prospect of keeping her clean and just letting her learn (and make a HUGE mess!!). She still doesn't talk or say words but she certainly jibber jabbers all day and has great conversations! She does understand everything you say to her and she follows commands pretty well (most of the time).

I am doing okay staying at home. Although there is a ton of cleaning to always be done and babies to care for it can get boring at times. When I can I get out and do a 3 mile walk. It keeps the kids quiet, gives me a break so to speak and I get my exercise. We all win!!! And according to the scale at the doctor's office yesterday I have lost 33 lbs.
