My big girl!!!

Katie went to her 3 month appointment today (she's technically 3 months and one week). Anyway, she weighed 13 lbs 8 oz and is 24" long. She is on the larger end for her age group but the doctor said she is growing perfectly and to keep feeding her all she wants to eat.

We're leaving for Orlando on Sunday!!! I'm getting nervous about flying with Katie but we're all going so she'll have plenty of laps to sit on if she gets bored or fussy. I just can't wait to navigate the airport with a 3 month old baby and a stroller, should be good times. No getting there early and hitting the bar for me this time! darn...

We're still here!!!

Finally a chance to update everyone! I was hoping to be able to post soon that Katie is rolling over, but she continues to be a slacker and let her mom roll her over instead. She is starting to coo and "talk" to me though! It's great, I finally have someone to talk to around here besides the pets. I really need to pull out the video camera and see if it works because i'd love to get video of her talking.

Today she started to notice her hands and she loves to eat them! She also is starting to grab for her feet when she puts her legs up in the air. It's so neat to be here and see how she seems to change every single day. I'm going to miss her when I go back to work :-(.

Here are some updated pictures I took today and I also wanted to share one of Katie and her grandpa. She was so tiny and i'm sad because that outfit doesn't fit her anymore.

I've also joined a mommy group. There are 12 women with babies the same age as Katie. I can't believe i've joined the ranks of women who belong to mommy groups and sit around and talk about sleeping patterns and poop!! I never thought that would happen! Oh and how could I forget...we bought a mini-van last weekend. Now all we need is a soccer sticker and life will be complete...

Go State!

Michigan State alumnus and proud papa Matt can appreciate the photos here! I've been told the uniform will be her outfit of choice for this weekend's soccer tournament in Holland. Katie has been pretty fussy lately and causing her mother much grief (Nana says paybacks are Hell) but I am proud to report that on occasion she has started sleeping about 8 hours overnight. Now the next step is for her to start that 8 hours at 10 instead of 8 or 9. Ms Katie is starting to be a lot of fun and she is testing her mom's ability to act really stupid to get her to smile for a brief second. She actually laughs now too!! I think Nick and Andrew are starting to enjoy her more too since she is way more interactive. Just wait until she can crawl and we have to lock everything up. We think she's going to be quite the pistol when she becomes mobile!!

Anyway, we'll be in Holland for the weekend and EVERYONE will be getting crappy sleep since Katie will be in the same room as all of us! Of course Andrew is staying with grandma at our house so he gets lucky :-). So thanks mom B. for watching Hunter this weekend and keeping Andrew occupied (remember, he's grounded from everything fun).

Updated Pictures

Nothing new to report, just wanted to post some pictures I took today and yesterday. I think she's almost over her shot trauma and getting back to normal.

Quick update...

Katie had her two month check up and shots today. She weighs 11 lbs 8 oz and is 22" long. The super mean nurse who gave her 4 shots made her cry tears. It was heart wrenching and I had to hold back my own tears. She has a band aid on each thigh and is currently sleeping off her trauma for the day.

Sorry I don't have a picture of the day to post. I'll try to get some of her later when she's feeling better.

Mother's Day!

So I had my first official Mother's Day yesterday! Matt went all out and got me some very nice things. Pictured you'll see the necklace that Katie got her mommy! Gee, how did she know? Only two months old and she already knows to get her mom jewelry. What a smart cookie she is. From Matt and the boys I got a Tassimo coffee maker, also something I was dying to have. You can't beat the perfect cup of coffee every time! Matt also has hot chocolate on order so the whole family can enjoy it. The oh so lovely picture of me and Katie is from Mother's Day. I swear that girl is going to think someday that her mom never showered or did her hair. Maybe someday I can get Matt to take a picture of me when i'm dressed and look human.

Tomorrow Katie goes in for her two month appointment and gets shots. I'm not sure how i'll get through that appointment hearing her cry! Poor little girl!!! (and poor mom!!) I'll be interested to see how much she weighs and talk to the ped about how much she should be eating. She seems hungry all the time and i'm not sure if i'm not feeding her enough or if she's just a little piggy??? I don't want to overfeed her or underfeed her. Oy, the joys of parenting... The last time I was in the doctor told me to feed her when she's hungry but I think she'd weigh 25 lbs by now if I fed her every time she wanted it!

So how weird is this but I have one frozen bag of breast milk left and I just can't bear to use it. It's like all that work I did, all the sickness, the pumping, the crying, the trying to get her to latch on, it's all gone and done. I feel bad because i'm not providing the "proper" nourishment to my daughter. It's harder for her to poop now on the formula and I feel so bad! I know many a baby has lived and thrived on formula so I need to stop beating myself up, but i'm sad I couldn't nurse her. And in a year who will care... she'll eventually be done with the bottle and it really won't even matter!!!

I do exist!!

So I finally got out from behind the camera and Matt was able to take a few pictures of me with Katie. Not exactly the glamour shots I was hoping to have but oh well. I suppose this is me in true form! If I had my hair done, make up and decent clothes on, it would be pretty fake. Matt and I had a pretty decent weekend. We were able to get over to English Gardens and buy some flowers, tomato plants and some pepper plants. Being that we are such the gardening officianados (NOT) we didn't get a whole lot to plant! The woman who used to live here and then moved in next door continues to manicure her lawn and dump more money into her landscaping. I'm curious to see what she does and if she makes it look like this yard used to. I bet she is just in agony seeing that we ripped out her pond and most of her flowers and plants. I'm sure it just kills her but she has managed to keep her mouth shut and not say a word to us. Not like she has any right but she just seems like the anal beeatch who would.

In other Brunette related news, Nick got all A's and one B on his last report card and has redeemed himself. He is now able to get online again and he is pretty happy about that! He was pretty excited about earning over $50 for his report card and already has a million things planned to buy with his newfound wealth. He did such a great job this last marking period and he wonders why we get upset when the grades are low. He obviously is capable of great grades. We have yet to see Andrew's report card but i'm sure he did well. I'm curious to see his French grade and hopefully it came up! It kills me that he just doesn't care about learning French and doesn't really study. I love helping him with it but he really doesn't want to put the major effort in. Ugh, maybe I can brain wash Katie into loving French like I did!!! Plus if she goes to France I could always chaperone the trip - yay!! She'll probably rebel and take Spanish, thus causing me to cry inconsolably. I'm not going to spend a week in TJ with her among the shacks, stray dogs and dirty bars with guys walking around with whistles pouring taquila shots down your throat! Okay I better go and put the classical music on and read French literature to her...
